I live in North West London, and whilst Im not a huge fan of chain restaurants Zaza is a small Italian restaurant chain that I really like.
There are a few branches: Zaza Rickmansworth being the best one by far!
I visited the Bushey branch this week and I was really let down by them!
We were a group of 10, the restaurant is very clean and beautifully lit. Bright enough to see the menus but dimly lit to give some atmosphere. I usually have the penne arrabbiata- I know its a boring dish but they make it so well! But I went for the Fettucine Giardino without goats cheese so I can say I tried something new today!
We ordered some garlic bread whilst we waited for the remaining guests.. It took the waitress a while to get to us and then it took forever for the starters to arrive. They were busy for a Tuesday but we only ordered 2 garlic breads and some olives!
Next the mains.. Once again we had to wait quite a long time! The good news was that we as a group had loads to catch up on, so we didn’t get disgruntled- but an update or something from the staff would’ve been appreciated.
Dessert was quick- and delicious I had the chocolate dessert that had some Ferrero chocolate in it. My gosh it was yum!
We wanted a round of Frangelico to end the night but it was now very late, so we asked if they will speed it up! I think they realised how slow they had been and served us each a Frangelico shot as a way of apology for free.
We certainly drank a fair bit and had 2 courses per person on average and the bill came to £32 per person.
Not bad- but a tad expensive for outside of central London and for the service we experienced.
Usually Id rate Zaza as a 4* but im afraid this visit wasnt great so I think a 3* is fair.
Zaza Rickmansworth however is always a lot more efficient and friendly. And the little restaurant offers so much character- Id recommend it to anyone!
Do you go to chain restaurants? Which is your fave?
