Nestled between Hué and Hoi An, Vedana has gorgeous views of a serene lagoon with a back drop of lush green vegetation. It is the first hotel in Vietnam to have bungalows over the water and it’s truly a magnificent place to stay.
I quickly learnt in Vietnam that you don’t have to stay somewhere expensive to get 5* service- but Vedana is a 5* hotel in a luxury setting and the level of service is unbeatable!
You can either have a bungalow with your own private pool, or an over the water villa. I had never had one of the over the water villas before, so opted for this choice. It was only a little bit more expensive but the best rates we got were on booking.com.
Hué airport is about 30 mins away (but I recommend Danang airport as you can get more direct flights and it is 90 minutes away) I’d recommend booking your own car as Vedana taxis are a lot more pricey- and make sure to use the famous Hai Van pass for the scenic route- only use the tunnel if you hate bendy roads/are in a real rush!
My one complaint about Vedana is you need to book everything- you have to book the jacuzzi, book dinner, book to play table tennis, book the kayaks, book to use the shuttle bus…Book everything! It seems a bit silly considering we are in such a remote location there isn’t anywhere else to go! We tried to book jacuzzi/massage a day in advance and we were told its fully booked for the next couple of days. Quite frustrating!
The weather was not on our side, it was quite gloomy and dull but we still had a great time riding our bikes around the place and playing table tennis etc. We did get the jacuzzi on the evening we arrived- and it is pretty darn gorgeous. I loved it, and you have the place to yourself so you can relax and enjoy. There is also a place you can book to have a romantic meal over looking the lagoon.. It looked lovely!
The bar has a great live band some nights, but otherwise the entertainment is limited! Table tennis and pool is fun though- and it’s a great place to unwind.
The toilet and shower is outside (very private though!) and its quite a fun experience being at one with nature! It is very clean and it’s just really cool!
We were lucky enough to stay in villa no.2 which is the only villa to have a glass floor so you can look down into the lagoon below you! I spent ages watching the little fish below me! So much fun!
We also used the complimentary shuttle bus to go to Hué- if you want to cover this UNESCO world heritage site in more detail you are probably better of staying over in Hué but we had a good few hours to walk around and see the highlights.
There is also a shuttle bus to take you to Canh Duong beach- but we wanted a day to just chill by the pool and enjoy the hotel.
I only stayed here for 2 nights- it is pricey but its awesome! The breakfasts were amazing and they brought different delicious vegetarian dishes for us at breakfast! They even made pizza at breakfast too!
I can’t just ‘relax’ in a hotel for long and so for me 2 days was enough.. But you can do some exploring and day trips and easily stay for a week. There were many families, honeymooners and couples at Vedana. It’s not a party place!
Have you ever stayed in a water bungalow?
