I love writing about Mr Fogg’s, but hate telling everyone about this place at the same time. It’s my secret place and I love it!! I go here so much that my predictive text suggests the word Fogg’s after I’ve written Mr on my phone!
The decor in this Mr Fogg’s Residence is exquisite.. You will find the hot air balloon that Phileas Fogg used to travel the world and the room is filled with treasures found along his travels. Even the tables and chairs all tell a story- it’s a great talking point on a date!
Tipsy Tea only happens on the weekend, and its extremely popular so I’d recommend booking in advance. (Make sure you tell them any dietary requirements upon booking!)
So the concept is quite simple- you have 2 hours and you can choose a teapot and you have some nibbles as well. You can choose a single teapot or pay a bit extra and go for the bottomless teapot- which is unlimited. It’s called TIPSY tea and so the only way to do this properly is to go bottomless obvs!
I chose the bottomless champagne teapot (£72) and over the course of 2 hours I drank more Moët than I have in my whole 30 years of existence! You can try each different cocktail- and they are all delicious. My favourite however was the Belvoir Castle. It was not too sweet but not bitter either and it went down very easily!
Oh how much fun! I wish I could do it again… (hint hint!) I had so much fun and the staff were so attentive and jovial- next thing I knew time was up and I had the serious giggles! The staff were prompt and made sure we had filled teapots throughout our stay. Don’t let the prices put you off- £72 for bottomless champagne teapots (£62 for the Gin teapots) is actually value for your money. Mr Fogg’s is a luxury bar and only use the finest and freshest ingredients- and the staff are attentive so your money stretches far.
I wish i could’ve filmed all 6 of us there getting progressively Tipsier (yes, it’s a real word!) as the evening went on!
The ‘main event’ of the Tipsy Tea is the amazicng cocktails, so if you’re looking for lots of food- then this is not for you.. But they do serve some finger sandwiches, wraps etc AND they really looked after us vegetarians too. Once you’ve gone through the savoury you get a course of desserts and petits fours.. Im not sure if it was all the champs but man these desserts were good!! It soaked up the booze and was served in time for me to guzzle back some more teapots.
Of course with all this drinking, you might need the loo.. And at the residence of dear Mr Fogg even the toilet is made into an experience. Do your business whilst listening to the tales of Phileas himself! Love love LOVE!
I really hope you’ll give this place a try now that you know about this little secret!
