There is no better time to be in beautiful London than Christmas time. As a Hindu, people are often surprised that I am so excited by Christmas! But why not? It may not be a religious festival for me, but it’s a time that family come together. Presents, mulled wine, days off, christmas trees, mince pies… what’s not to love?
This year, I wanted to make sure I get to St Pancras station to check out the huge Disney toy Christmas tree…. I was seriously hungover, the tubes had severe delays & weekend closures, it was cold and I was tired but I made the journey in anyway… & boy am I glad I did!
It’s pretty hard to miss this gorgeous tree as you walk through the shopping concourse in St Pancras.. as it towers above you it’s adorned with over 2,000 cuddly toys, made up of all the popular disney characters. Every few minutes at the top of the tree Mickey Mouse starts to spray a foamy fake snow to onlookers nearby.
It’s hard not to feel all Christmassy and nostalgic as you see excited children running about trying to catch the snow.. and animatedly identify all the Disney characters to their parents whilst they wait for the next snow burst. It’s quite easy to spend 30 minutes people watching and appreciating this beautiful tree. Whats even more- it’s all free!
What makes it even more special is that each toy will be donated to the charity KIDS. Remember to do your bit this Christmas…
