I stayed at this 5* stunning hotel, when I was part of a wedding party for one of my best friends. The views and scenery of this luxury hotel is truly breathtaking! Set in the gorgeous coast line of Agios Ioannis this hotel boasts gorgeous views it is an exceptional venue to get married!
The wedding itself was a beautiful ceremony, and I feel honoured to have played a role in it. Mykonos is a beautiful island, and even in mid September when it is the quieter season, the sun glared down onto us and the hotel was just simply gorgeous. Blue sky, slue sea and white washed walls- it felt like a fairy tale.
Breakfast at the Kalimera restaurant was always a feast, and Symposium had delicious pasta for lunch (although limited on the vegetarian choices). There is also 7th heaven a gourmet dining restaurant.
You have a choice of getting a private villa, or a suite or standard room at St John's. The one thing to note is there is a lot of incline at the hotel, and you do have to walk quite far from place to place- I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with any walking problems as you may not be comfortable- however there is a buggy service, so it may be worth speaking to the hotel.
I stayed in a standard room, with a garden view. Perhaps, it was because we were such a large group but we had all paid the same amount, yet some people had hot tubs, and beautiful views- whereas we didn't get as lucky! Our view was just the other blocks of rooms around us. It is rather expensive, and would've hoped for a better view considering the amount paid!
The service was generally fantastic, I arrived by ferry and had a car pick me up. The driver was so friendly and welcoming and the driver who took me and my luggage to my room was also really nice. However, there was one lady at the reception who was really rude- it took her 2 days (no exaggeration here!) to deliver an iron to my room- and I am not impressed by her attitude on the phone when we would ring. I understand the hotel was busy with wedding arrangements, but given this is part of the hotel service.. there should be enough irons. Eventually when I got the iron- it didn't work and water leaked all over my dress!
Aside from that- the service from waiters, pool attendants, drivers etc was truly fantastic. And the hotel is really beautiful. I loved the infinity pool and the main area pool with the white bridge. The area used for the wedding reception was also lovely, and was an unforgettable evening for a wonderful couple and family- destination weddings are such a fun way to celebrate!
The piano bar, sun bathing area and many places to eat, relax and enjoy at this hotel make it a truly exceptional place to visit- it is very near the ferry port and airport as well!
