Located on the Guía de Isora coast of Tenerife, the Abama resort is quite simply breathtaking. The hotel is surrounded by lush vegetation- there is so much green! Banana plantations are all around us, and then there are the spectacular views of the Atlanic Ocean. I have quite simply fallen in love with this place!
This has also become a very popular spot for destination weddings- it boasts more sunshine than anywhere else in Spain and its just SO beautiful- anyone would want to get married here!
As a result I stayed here for the wedding of one of my dearest friends, and it was a wonderful 5 night stay. I could’ve easily stayed another week or two here and not tire of my surroundings!
There are something like 13 bars & restaurants in the resorts- 2 of which have earnt Michelin stars! Kabuki run by Head Chef Ricardo Sanz is a Japanese restaurant with Western influences, and boasts a Michelin star. M.B restaurant has 2 Michelin stars and is headed up by Chef Martín Berasategui.
Good job there is so much variety at the Abama, because its in a very remote location and pretty far from anywhere else. Of course this didn’t stop us getting some minivans to take us to the famous Veronica’s strip in Tenerife! (Very different to the luxe of Abama!)
The Abama also has one of the top golf courses in Spain.. and is one the reasons why this hotel is so popular.
I stayed in a Junior suite and it was absolutely gorgeous.. The one thing to remember is this is a resort- not a small hotel. Buggies are available for anyone that needs them- and the hotel even has its own train to get you to the El Mirardor pool and beach
The pool is just wonderful, perfect for couples, and families. There are a few pools in the hotel but El Mirardor is my favourite.
The hotel looks like its been made from red clay, it is beautiful Moorish architecture set against the most beautiful backdrop of blue skies, turquoise waters and greenery.
The beach is small, but perfect for sunsets.. It was quite a distance away from my suite but there are villas available which seemed to be closer. You can be lost in this resort for days…
I hope you enjoy some photos of the hotel.. It should be a place for you to consider for a luxury holiday or maybe your own event! I rate this 5* but would give it more if I could! Luckily for me, I go again in September for another wedding 🙂
