There is nothing us Londoners love more than some kind of festival or funky excuse to come and join the crowds in town!
The Lumiere festival enjoyed its first year in London, and was very aptly timed with the post Xmas blues. We have all broken our New Years resolutions (i haven’t actually *smug face*) our bodies are still a bit heavier and pockets a bit lighter than we would’ve hoped! So Lumiere London was a great FREE activity in London that lit up our weekend!
I wanted to be at the Harbin Ice Festival in China this January- but since I couldn’t make it- this was a small conciliation!
The crowds were crazy! So much so that they switched off some lights in Kings Cross and Piccadilly Circus. I myself was there on Saturday night, and whilst people were there in their thousands- I personally felt like it was well managed. Some people didnt have the same experience though..
Anyhoo, I cant help but feel some of the instalments were not as ‘beautiful’ or ‘mind blowing’ as others say. Im not art buff, so maybe this is a bit lost on me but I didn’t get the hype over this jellyfish type thing.. Or the fish (or sperm!) floating about on Regents street.,,
However, the lit up dress, the elephant, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, and the performance of lit up men on Regents street was awesome! I didn’t get the time to see any others- I wish it was on for a few more days.
Also- how amazing was it walking around at your own pace with no cars, buses, bikes around?
Some of these photos have been stolen from my best mate in the world Nish! Lets see if she reads my blog enough to notice….
Did you enjoy the Lumiere festival? Have you been to any other light festival? Id love to hear from you… Please feel free to comment in the box below 🙂
