I was given a night in this hotel as a surprise gift… I was about to start a 3 week mammoth trip of travelling. After a 30+ hour journey to get to Bangkok, my boyfriend had booked me into the Hotel Muse so that I could start my holiday in style and get the relaxation I need before jumping into my rammed itinerary around South East Asia!
The hotel did offer to pick me up, but like most hotels their rates are a lot higher than just taking a taxi from the airport (see my post on tips in Thailand for more on taxis).
From Don Mueang airport it was only about a 25 minute drive to the hotel, and Hotel Muse was nestled in next to some other smaller hotels.. this one being the most beautiful by far!!
I checked in, and it was all very efficient and hassle free. I went to my suite, which was absolutely gorgeous… this gives you an idea of my view
The bathtub was massive and very inviting so it was long until I was filling myself a nice warm bath so I could freshen up. I decided I would order some room service as well to enjoy after my bath. I had heard great things about the speakeasy rooftop bar, so I wanted to make sure I don’t fall asleep before visiting!
Not feeling too adventurous I ordered a pizza and a side of french fries… I had just sunk into my bath when the room phone rang.. so I ran out of the bath praying I wont slip on the floor. It was the kitchen- they had run out of flour and so they couldn’t make me a pizza!! No problem- I’ll opt for the penne napolitana instead. Back in the bath… 2 seconds later the phone rings again… Now what??? The kitchen again… they couldnt remember which pasta I had chosen. So I told them penne…
Got back into the bath, and I close my eyes…. I’m sure you can guess what happened!! It seems these guys wanted to make sure I dont relax!!!! This time they wanted to tell me that they only have spaghetti available.
I sh*t you not, this happened a couple more times: apparently with spaghetti they cant do fries on the side!! So I asked for a whole portion instead. (You’d think at this point, they made apologise or just throw in the chips for free??).
Finally the phone stops ringing… so for about 7 minutes I get to shut my eyes, and enjoy whats left of this rather tepid bath!! And then… the doorbell rings! Approximately 33 minutes earlier than the kitchen staff had told me to expect. I commend the faster service… but really????
The bath was not meant to be. I had my pretty bland pasta, and very tasty fries. And got ready for the bar!
The bar was lovely, I enjoyed my complimentary chocolate martini! Very nice!! I enjoyed the views, and the chill our ambiance at the bar. The staff were friendly and the bar was great… but my eyes kept drooping so without further delay I went to my room and hit the hay.
The bed was so comfy, and the pillows even better. Its a shame the water in the shower just doesnt get hot enough…
The next day I had breakfast, which had plenty of variety and live cooking stations for your eggs. The only disappointment here was they didnt serve a single fresh juice! Everything was from bottled- which is disappointing considering the exotic location we are in!! Other than that it was great.
I spent the day at Chatuchak Market.Hotel Muse is conveniently located to the skytrain and it only took 20 minutes to get to Chatuchak (see my post on Chatuchak here).
Upon getting back to the hotel, I enjoyed the pool and a glass of wine. I had a late checkout and I made the most of my room before leaving to get to my flight at Don Mueang for Chiang Mai…
