If you have visited Hoi An before, you will know that it is the most charming little town. I defy anyone to visit and not fall in love with this place. Before I even start talking about this.. Enjoy the photos..
The best advice I can give anyone planning a trip to Vietnam is a) go to Hoi An b) give yourself at least 4/5 days there! I sped through Hoi An in 2 half days and I cant wait to return.
The night market is just gorgeous- my favourite in all the land! The usual tricks of negotiation stand but there’s just something magical about this place!
Enjoy the evening by walking along the river and seeing the town lit up by lanterns. The Japanese bridge looks so romantic at night, and the lanterns floating down the river holding a secret wish just adds to the magic.
You can learn to make rice paper, learn to cook a traditional Vietnamese meal, be a farmer for a day, make lanterns, learn pottery, go to the beach, visit the old houses- basically so many things!
You can visit the 100’s of tailor shops, make your own suits, dresses, shoes… Whatever you need really. And it only takes 4/5 hours for it to be ready! Go in the early afternoon, get fitted and pick up in the evening or next morning… And its pretty cheap. Choose materials, choose styles, colour, made to measure and then choose your price!!
Things you have to do in Hoi An:
1. Get yourself a suit/dress tailored- maybe even some shoes!
2. Enjoy the night market and make a wish with a lantern
3. See the Japanese bridge by night
4. Check out Thanh Ha pottery village
5. Do at least 1 class eg.cookery, rice making
6. Eat at Ganesh
