From the owners of Salts of the Earth drinks consultancy comes First Aid Box. A tiny little space serving food and cocktails with a doctors feel to it! These are the same owners of The Shrub & Shutter in Brixton which has one a number of awards so you are allowed to have high expectations!
I didn’t eat here, but came for some late night cocktails one Tuesday evening. The food reviews are pretty good as well though! Despite the day of the week, the bar was full and buzzing! Dropping some seriously good tunes from Notorious BIG, Mary J Blige etc.
They don’t take reservations here, which is why we thought to come on a Tuesday- but even then, the little tables were packed so we perched in the corner and enjoyed the decor!
Lots of quirky decoration, it’s all a bit random in here! Some to do with first aid and some was just a bit weird!
It feels like you are in the front room of a very weird persons house! The bar was pretty cool and I love the arrangement. There is loads to talk about in here- so a good place for a first date! Although- without a reservation you may look disorganised if you don’t get a table!
Our waitress was lovely, and we just asked for a the 3 zaniest things on the menu: Thirst Aid, Coffee and Cigarettes and Bramble Gin were the ones we went for.
The Bramble Gin came in a short glass with a syringe of cherry purée which you can add for sweetness. The syringe is awesome, very much in theme and is also a great way to make sure the drink is only sweetened to your taste! I am not a gin lover but once I emptied the syringe into the drink is was quite tasty!
The Coffee and Cigarettes arrives on a wooden board, theres a cup in the middle with ‘coffee’ and is covered on top with a glass dome. When the dome is removed there is a lot of smoke swirling around the air and a great aroma of coffee… it was pretty tasty too!
We ended our evening here, enjoying our drink and listening to the awesome music!
Great service, great cocktails and a fab place to bring a date or a medic friends for a night out. My amazing friends brought me here for a nightcap after Pharmacy2 for my birthday evening.. It was an awesome themed evening! Despite the no reservation policy- do try and make your way over here, it is a small bar so have a plan B!
