Becky and I can never agree on a place to eat until one of us suggests Arabica! Tucked away in the market is this Middle Eastern restaurant serving cocktails and a whole load of Mezze and delicious main courses.
This menu is full of fresh ingredients and is a vegetarian heaven. My favourites are the Grilled Halloumi (they used to do one with poached pear which was gorgeous- but this is amazing too), freshly made hummus, falafels (fried chick pea based balls),Tabbouleh (a type pf parsley salad with cucumber, mint etc) & Winter Fattoush (winter leaves, za’tar, radish, croutons, vinaigrette)
This time we also tried the Mushroom and Truffle Man’ouesh which was so delicious. Cheesy bread with mushrooms, halloumi (more cheese!) topped with fresh rocket whats not to love! The falafel balls are herbed and spiced perfectly, and they were freshly fried so still crunchy outside but soft and tasty inside. The Winter Fattoush accompanied this perfectly. The Halloumi is salty but deliciously so, and was the perfectly addition to our chosen Mezze. Arabica makes the best grilled Halloumi in London in my opinion. The hummus and fresh pitta is always gorgeous and i honestly wish they gave more hummus because its so fresh and tasty. (I never knew one could be so excited over Hummus).
I love the Levantine ambiance of this restaurant, you’re in the middle of a market with hundreds of fresh fruits, cheeses, vegetables and cuisines. Yet this place has a sense of calm and the staff are attentive, I sat at the bar whilst we ate the meal and watched the kitchen staff at work and also watched the bar staff shaking up the cocktails.
Its the perfect place for a working lunch with clients or friends.. And even though i haven’t seen it at night- its a great place to take a veggie on a date!
